8. Yale vs Penn – Great Ivy League match-up. Yale’s uniforms are classic. The pants are a bit strange, but I can deal with it. Penn’s uniforms are unique. They have that weird Nike chest stripe. They wore their blue helmets with gray pants. I thought it was a good look 1 on 1. It’s nice to give the small schools some attention.
7. Arizona vs Washington State – WSU wore their light gray helmets and pants with their dark gray jerseys. Surprisingly, I thought it looked pretty good. Arizona wore one of my favorite combos of the year. The gradient on their sleeves and numbers looks great. The white/white/blue was awesome, but the white cleats took it to another level.
6. Colgate vs Albany – 2 little known teams. Colgate from the Patriot and Albany from the CAA. Albany wore an LSU-esk combo. Colgate wore their matte gray helmets with gray pants. The striping on these uniforms looked great for both teams. So classy but Colgate adds a modern twist with their maroon side panel.
5. UNC vs Virginia – Virginia brought back their blue helmets after being in orange last week. They went mono-blue. It didn’t look too bad at all. UNC wore they light blue helmets and pants (with black accents) with their white jerseys. I wish UNC wouldn’t wear so much black, but the game looked good regardless.
4. Marshall vs FAU – This game surprised me. I didn’t anticipate it looking so great. The Christmas colors worked. Marshall went white/green/white. FAU wore their red chrome helmets that looked incredible. I wish their jerseys would’ve had a bit more red on them. If they would’ve gone red/white/red, this would have #1 potential.
3. Cincinnati vs USF – In this AAC match-up, USF went full stormtrooper. They have one of the best all-white looks in the NCAA. Cincinnati wore red helmets with their classic black on black. This was a great look. The red accents on the collar and piping really tied it together. They are still yet to repeat a uniform combo this season.
2. Michigan State vs Michigan – A great look for both squads. Michigan wore all green and looked fantastic as always. Michigan wore their typical road combo of Blue/white/yellow. They have the best helmets in the NCAA in my opinion. CLASSIC.
1. Ohio State vs Penn State – Again, 2 classic match-ups. Penn State wore white/blue/white (no surprise at all). Ohio State wore their “rivalry uniforms” featuring chrome-ish helmets with chrome accents. The striping is also enlarged which is a great look. Nothing wrong with this match-up.
WORST- Western Michigan vs Ohio – Excuse me… Western Michigan… Sit down! That look is GROSS. They broke out some new gold jerseys that just looked terrible. The shoulder stripe featured rowing oars but really looked like a lipid bilayer in cells. I was severely confused. The helmets and pants looked fine, though. Ohio wore their mono-green combo that just added to the mess. It’s hard to find a color combo that looks as bad as Green and Brown. Ohio looked fine by itself. Western Michigan looked bad everywhere.
