I just want to start by swallowing my pride a little bit. I expected the Florida State/Louisville game to look TERRIBLE…. But I was wrong. Florida State altered their uniforms a bit to the point where they actually look good. Louisville wore special adidas uniforms that definitely looked better in action.
Now to the list…
8. Iowa vs Northwestern – Very nice big ten match-up. The game wasn’t close, but at least they looked good. Northwestern wore white helmets and jerseys with purple pants. The “stomach stripe” looks great under the black numbers. Iowa wore their normal uniforms. Yes, I’m sure that’s not the Steelers. It is, indeed, Iowa.
7.Virginia vs Georgia Tech – So pretty… Virginia wore blue/orange/blue on the road. Great contrast. GT wore gold/white/gold at home. They are one of the few schools that looks good in Russell uniforms.
6. Baylor vs Kansas – Kansas has a special place in my heart. They looked incredible. The big Jayhawk logo is awesome. The all-white look was great. I love the big pant stripe. Baylor wore school colors! I’m definitely a fan of this combo. The matte helmet really works.
5. Texas A&M vs Louisana-Monroe – This is mostly for the Aggies. Texas A&M wore throwback uniforms. Their helmets were designed to look like leather. Very cool! The off-white numbers and pants were definitely a nice touch. This was a great idea that was executed to perfection by Adidas. Well done! ULM wore all white. Their white helmets featured a chrome facemask and helmet stripe.
4. Kentucky vs Missouri – UK wore schools colors! #AwayWithGray. This combo looked great. I love the look of the blue on white. The subtle checkering of the sleeves is a nice touch. Mizzou went black/gold/gray. It presented a great contrast against the blue and white. I’m not a huge fan of the weird striping, but It was still a good look.
3. Duke vs Pitt – Thank you for bringing back the script, Pitt! It looks great. The gold/blue/gold is a really classy look and the script only makes it better. Duke went Black/white/black. The black helmets featured a BRIGHT, chrome stripe and decal. It was definitely unique. I loved them both.
2. Air Force vs Army – The academies do it best. Starting with AF, those helmets are so beautiful. The gray to blue fade is really nice. It fits together with their uniforms extremely well. This is one of the better combos I’ve seen this year. Army brought back the camo jerseys again. They look so good with the black helmets and pants. You’ wouldn’t expect a uniform with camp to be simplistic, but Army really nailed it. Kudos to both schools.
1. Notre Dame vs Navy – It doesn’t get any better… at all. I can tell you now that this is my favorite match up of the year. In this Under Armour showdown, Notre Dame wore their classic road whites. Their helmets looked great as always. Navy wore new anchor logos on their gold helmets along with navy jerseys and pants. I love the 6 torso stripes. This game was just so simple and classic. Can’t do it any better.
WORST: UCLA – They played Arizona, but the Wildcats looked great. I never single a certain team out… well, UCLA deserved it. These jerseys made no sense. They looked terrible. I’m really not sure why they did this. Who’s more at fault UCLA or Adidas?…. please stop this madness.
