Adidas shocked the college football world recently by announcing their addition of Miami (FL) as a member school. Miami has long had ties with Nike and was one of their first premier schools, revolutionizing the equipment landscape with “The U Swagger.” A new age is coming upon the Hurricanes as the cut the ties of their iconic relationship with Nike. So what does Adidas have to offer Miami? The specific details have not been released but it is speculated that the deal is worth $90 million over 12 years. Here is what Adidas has released thus far. I do not expect either of these to hit the field. The brand just had to put something out there to appease the fans.
The cleats are a bit outrageous but I find the uniform to be too simple for Miami. Both are purely concepts at this point. This, however, I hope to never see again:
Another major pick up by Adidas came as a surprise to me as they announced a new 8 year, $33.8 Million deal. Arizona State has made some noise with Nike lately breaking out a large number of uniform combinations, including their beautiful grey and orange desert fuel uniforms. I’m not too thrilled with the switch but, I feel that Adidas can do some strange things that only Arizona State (or Louisville) can appreciate. Here is what Adidas has released so far:
Again, I believe that these are both just concepts as more customization will be done. Snoop Dogg was a nice touch, however.
In January of last year, Tennessee announced that they would be leaving Adidas for Nike. The deal is worth $32 million over 8 years and it will come into place in the summer of 2015. I love this move for Tennessee because it really sets the scene for some beautiful uniforms. Nike is going to keep the traditional Tennessee look which Adidas failed to do. In all sports, the Vols will look sleeker. I came across these great looking concepts:
No, the grey is not traditional but it is a great look. Butch Jones has said that he likes to have an alternate to help with recruiting and “swag.” If they’re going to wear grey, this is what it needs to be.
Lastly, It seems that Adidas will be losing Cincinnati to Under Armour. This deal is not official yet but it is just about a done deal. Cincinnati has been with Adidas since 2006 (2008 for football). They’ve churned out some great uniforms the past 2 years but I’m excited to see what UA can do with the Cats. I’m hoping to see a much sleeker look. Hopefully, no more claw marks, chainmail, and NO MORE ZUBAZZ.
We’ll keep you updated on the site as more details are released. As always, thank you for reading.

Feeling pretty mixed about this. I’ve been a fan of the Adidas swag for Cincinnati ever since they switched from Nike some years ago. I don’t feel as confident about UA.

They definitely had some awesome gear but also some very ugly gear (Zubazz and Chainmail). The money is much better from UA. It will be interesting for sure.
